Subject: Rudder pedals Calibration problem

With FS9 I have been using home-made pedals (50K ohm pot as the controller
thro' gameport adapter to USB). It was working OK until recently. As the
mechanical side of things was causing problems, I made some changes to
improve it.
One of the consequences is that the controls are reversed. To overcome
this, I have ticked the reverse box in FSUIPC calibration with a strange
result.
In normal mode, I have had a good rudder movement. With reverse ticked, as
soon as I use the rudder, it moves full right and stays there. I have also
tried swapping the pot connexions, but the same things happens. (I checked
the pot in a multimeter and it looked OK).
Any suggestions, please, what the cause might be? CH yoke is working OK.
